My last IMD assignment :'(

1. What advice would you give to a student starting their interactive resume project?
I would give a lot of advice to any student starting their interactive resume. First, I would definitely stress the need to have a good drawn out plan for the resume. I was one of the people who just strolled right through the planning process without using my time properly to work on my ideas. Now I did in fact get the project done, it was more time consuming then it should have been if I had in fact planned it all out. Another piece of advice I would give, would definitely inform them of having backups of ALL OF YOUR FILES. I experienced first hand, that not having backups can cause serious problems. I lost my flash drive, with all of my project files, and had to pull the rest of it together in a short amount of time. I’m sure with those two bits of information, the student would be well on their way for starting their resume.

2. What would you add or remove from the interactive resume project?
I don’t think I would change anything on our resume. It starts out with the planning. The planning allows the student to compile all of his thoughts onto drawings and tables to help aid him/her in their design. Then we start on the designing process. We have plenty of time to get the project done, and we always have great help if needed.

3. What would you change about the capstone project?
I enjoyed that we didn’t have to do a capstone, and a senior project, but that we only had to do one. I like that they were combined to allow us more freedom to work on them, instead of having to work on two. I don’t think that anything should change.

4. What did you learn about yourself as an interactive media designer over the past two years?
I’ve really learned a lot over the past 2 years. I have learned more about my interests, and what it is that actually enjoy doing. I have had so much fun during my IMD time, and I will always remember all of the funny projects, videos, animations, jokes and people that were apart of IMD. I have learned that I enjoy creating products for people graphically with videos, animations, websites, graphic design, and photography. I have definitely enjoyed my time in IMD.

5. Do you feel that your experience in IMD will help you in the future?
I strongly believe that my experience from IMD will help me for my future plans. IMD has gotten me completely into technology and how everything works. I enjoy working with computers way more than I have ever had in the past. I am very glad that I made the decision to come and join IMD.

P.S. Thank you Mr. Fitzer and Mr. DiMasso. You were both very knowledgeable, great to be in class with, and above all, excellent teachers. I wanted to thank you both for all you have taught us, and making IMD a very fun and enjoyable experience.

Summery

Throughout my life I have had many directions that I could have taken, and all would have lead to different outcomes, but I have chosen the path that I will take, and I am sticking with it. This path leads me toward a career in the New Media Technology fields that are out there. Jobs like animator, graphic designer, photographer, video production, audio production, web design, and many others. This field requires a good and fast creative mind, with a strong will and dedication to lead in this career field. I believe that I am suitable for this career field for many reasons. One being that I have always been creative and outgoing, always creating new things, or thinking of new ideas. Another being that I have always been a leader, whether it is at my job, in school, or outside of school.

I think that this use of coding and getTimer could be very useful. One way I think that I would use it is by having the people select multiple buttons. Lets say that theres a room, and its locked by 4 buttons. And lets also say that if you hit them in the right order in the right amount of time, the door opens. But if you take to long, or not hitting them in the right order, the buttons reset themselves and you have to start all over again. Another way that I could use this coding to make my interactive resume more interesting and fun is to have doors that are locked and needed to be opened by multiple buttons pressed at the same time. Lets say the user is heading down the hallway, and at the end is a sliding door panel. On both sides of the door are a button, in which the user has to press both of them in the aloud time which will then activate the door. Basically its like those FBI or CIA doors that require 2 keys to be turned at the same time in order to open for safety reasons. A third way I could implement them into my IR is by having a computer on lockdown mode, and it has to be restarted with a binary coding of buttons pressed down in the aloud time. The user would have to find the code somewere else on the IR and then use it to activate the certain binary numbers in the aloud time in order to unlock the computer. So that’s 3 ways I could use this to help further my IR and make it more interesting.

BPA Experiance

My BPA experience was very good this year. I had a better team, and we also were all more driven to succeed this year since it is our last chance to compete. The whole experience started when we arrived at the competition. The environment was the same as last year, but it was a lot more cozy then last year, more people I know, more games, and good food. We played a couple games of Tsuro first. Tsuro is a tile game in which each person has to follow their paths around the board. The winner is the person who can stay on the longest without colliding with another person or falling of the edge of the map. I won the first game, and then Jon won the second game, but everyone had lots of fun. Then Travis, Matt, Jon, and I played some Ideology. That game basically is risk but with political advice. We didn’t get to finish that one though. Then at 3:50 we got all the equipment and our papers together and headed for the elevator, went upstairs, and checked in. The woman told us like she did last year that they were about 5 minutes behind schedule. So we patiently awaited our turn. 35 minutes later, we finally got called into the room, and we presented. We seemed to have impressed both of the judges and we nailed our presentation with no problems. We did loose about a minute though on the beginning because of sum technical stuff but I wrote 250 words so just ask me about it.
