game theory

Game Theory
One of the two topics that I had read about was in-game advertising. Games have become way more popular than they have in the past and the number has skyrocketed. Companies have now started to actually use games to do advertising. Say for instance that your playing a game like grand theft auto 4. Now on the billboards and posters all over the game, are actually advertisement posters for companies wanting you to buy what they have to sell. One statistic out there about this advertising is that around $75 million was spent on advertising in games. The main reason companies want to do this is that they know that lots of people play games and they figured that if they advertised in games, people would see them and hopefully buy whatever was advertised.
The second topic I read about was games and education. Since children love to play video games, then why not make games that they can learn from. Some companies have started to make education games that help teach children basic things like math, science, reading and writing, which are all essential to the development of children. Having education and gaming together actually helps children learn, because they are in a fun environment and they are willing to the work, unlike school work or test. Playing games actually helps you memorizing things better than the old read and study method found in schools. Students have fun playing the games while they learn at the same time. Basically killing two birds with one stone.
